Internship primarily responsible for assisting Director with on-going public relations and social media duties such as:
- Direct all social media activities on Facebook/Twitter
- Research websites that the Association needs to be linked
- Work with existing Western Avenue website and try to connect with those merchants who we do not have linked with our website; encourage re-tweeting with merchants
- Collect monthly data for e-newsletter (e-newsletter sent out by the 5th of the month)
- Help coordinate and distribute materials for various events on Western Avenue; write and send out press releases for all events and campaigns
- Help facilitate details for the Taste of Western; write and send out press releases for the event; help coordinate media participation
Other duties include running errands, assisting with event planning, data entry, phone calling, mailings, and maintaining the merchant database. Benefits to Student:
Student will learn to work within the perameters of a small non-profit business association. Student will learn to interact with small business owners and learn the needs those owners have...and learn how to come up with creative strategies to accomplish our goals given a tight budget. There is plenty of room to be creative here! Responsibilities:
This internship is mostly responsible for all social media and web-based public relations and marketing for the Association. We are very interested in having the student intern research which websites our Association should be linked to - and then linking us to those sites. Also, the student will help identify websites for our individual merchants to be linked to as well. The student will be responsible for all tweeting and updating our facebook page. As events come up, the student will help plan Association events and help with the marketing of those events. Requirements:
Coursework in communications, public relations or related field preferred. Must have good organizational, customer service, excellent computer and time management skills.Must be social media and web researching savvy. Must be at least a college junior. Training:
Student will work directly with the Association director to initially learn about the Association and what are the needs. Once the director has met with the intern, we'll determine what training might be appropriate. Time Commitment:
The time commitment is around 5-7 hours a week. If the student is working for credit hours at their university - we can work around that as well. Development Opportunities:
